This morning I had to drop off my dog, Maddie to be sedated. She tenses up so much around the vet and she's already solid muscle that the vet has been unable to determine if she has a torn ACL. I don't know if you remember from previous posts but since early July I have had to confine one of my black labs because after swimming one afternoon she had a serious limp. This has been awful all around because she can't go on my every other day walks and she can't play with her sister, Mya, who is also a black lab. Neither dog has been able to understand this confinement. In fact, usually Maddie is a "mamma's dog" and because I can't walk her she has turned to my husband and snubbed me (let's just say I haven't taken that very well!). Since we have been confining her she has appeared to heal a little bit just this past week. But, to rule out surgery (especially before the baby's born!) we went ahead and had her sedated this morning so the vet could determine if it was her ACL. Good news! It may have been slightly torn but he thinks we have been doing a good job of confining her and he can't find anything torn or her in pain or discomfort! She has been declared a dog on the mend and hopefully only a few more weeks of confinement will do the trick and we can get back to our regular weekend hikes and weekly walks! Don't you just love when things turn out for the unexpected better?!
